Maryland State Scholastic Chess Championships Set Another Attendence Record this Year

More than 500 chess players from kindergarten to 12th grade attended the Maryland State Scholastic Chess Championship at Dumbarton Middle School on March 20 & 21. This total was about 50% above the previous record number of players playing in a chess tournament in Maryland history. A total of 16 High Schools, 33 Middle Schools, and 70 Elementary Schools sent players to the tournament.

Maryland Junior Grand Prix PDF Print E-mail

MD Junior Grand Prix

The MCA board has authorized awards for the Maryland residents with the highest Junior Grand Prix (JGP) totals in 2009. The board will award a total of $1200 to players with the five highest JGP totals.

Maryland Sweet 16 Standings Through Liberty Christian PDF Print E-mail

We have updated the sweet 16 Standings through the Liberty Christian Scholastic. A total of 30 players have played in at least one tournament so far. Gill Guo played in his first tournament and moved into third seed by rating. The six with the highest March supplement ratings who have played in at least one tournament will qualify. The next 10 slots will be awarded to the players with the most rally points.
